But firing a civilian over this is not right.
I am glad Justice Barrett and I are on opposite sides here.
If parents must get a vaccine to send their kids to school then just call it forced vaccination. That’s what we’re headed towards.
I don’t want to go through this every year.
I had to get a tetanus shot before I started 6th grade. It's common practice. Also I didn't whine like a like wienerhead baby about it.
good for you. I and everyone i know did so as well. One and done!

America's vaccination rate is the envy of the world. We did it with logistics, persuasion, and concessions to big pharma. Not with mandates and threats. Let's show the world how it's done.

The mooted booster programmes are not without controversy or indeed unfairness.
But the programmes are controversial. The World Health Organization has called a halt to all boosters until the end of September, saying supplies should be safeguarded for poorer countries that have yet to inoculate significant numbers of citizens.

Prof Sir Andrew Pollard, the head of the Oxford vaccine group, and Seth Berkley, the chief executive of Gavi, the vaccine alliance, describe this as “a key moment for decision-makers”.

“Large-scale boosting in one rich country would send a signal around the world that boosters are needed everywhere,” they write in the Guardian. “This will suck many vaccine doses out of the system, and many more people will die because they never even had a chance to get a single dose.”
In the U.K., I’d argue our government’s talk of booster programmes are more about bolstering their waning political credit for snapping up a disproportionate share of the early vaccine supplies. Vaccine nationalism is contemptible and murderous.

Yeah. I have a feeling this government could become incredibly unpopular quite suddenly.

Not sure about that underlined part, my kids can't go to public school without having their vaccinations up to date (and I'm all for it.)

Maybe I was unclear. Mumps and measles are not my concern.
I meant America's COVID vaccination rate will continue to outpace everyone else's even without mandates.

Everyone else's?

However, the bigger problem is convincing people who haven't had it yet.
Millions of vaccines are in danger of being thrown out as the US immunisation campaign hits a wall of vaccine refusal.
US vaccinations peaked at more than 3.4 million a day in April but fell to under a million a day at the beginning of June

The US is at 51% which is the same as France, slightly less than Germany, more than Norway, Sweden or Japan, siginificantly more than Australia, but the difference is that we can expect it to plateau around here, where in the other places it can be expected to continue to rise (Well I don't know about Australia, there seemed to be a lot of kerfuffle but maybe it was because of the lockdowns, though I have the impression of the Australian state as very invasive and obnoxious). I don't know anywhere else where vaccination is so politicised.

My loss of the last vestiges of confidence in the U.K. electorate mutters otherwise. My loss mutters a lot, to be fair.
I'm with you here. With almost total control of the media there seems to be little hope.

Boris Johnson was made leader to be a fall guy. They knew the contentious issue of brexit and how it could play out could be unpopular, so they put the eton scarecrow there to take the flak, knowing fine well they could swap him out later.

Then Covid happened.

They got a 2 for 1 deal, such unbelieveble luck. Now they just need to ride things out as long as they can, then get rid of him to restore 'confidence', probably replacing him with someone like Sunak who seems to poll well.
