Chicagoans - Obama Presidential Centre - what's the thoughts on the ground?

Just read this article:

It’s Been Hard Opposing Barack Obama

About the proposed site for the centre being on part of Jackson park, and the activists trying to stop it.

I can see justification from both sides, I was just wondering what people who live in the area thought about it.

Yeah there was talk in the article (from supporters of it) that it could help rejuvenate the area etc. but that's a fine line and can end up just being gentrification.

Yeah.. it's that fine line of 'creating some jobs for an area that badly needs it' vs. building something not for the community.

For what little it's worth I've been hearing about how this and that was gonna gentrify the south and west sides for 20 years and it hasn't happened. I'm leaning towards "any investment is good investment", but know very little about the Obama library.
