Had an interesting one-sided conversation with one of the managers at work today. One-sided because I chose not to engage/pushback for my mental well-being. The company I work for is requiring everyone to be vaccinated by Oct 1 and she's not happy about it. She says that they are trying to get rid of her, and she will try to use the religious exemption to get out of it. Spoiler alert: she isn't religious. She told me. All of this rigamarole and for what - she thinks they are trying to curb her rights. I can't deal with this type of person. I nod politely, shrug indifferently, and move on.

Selfish people.

This all boils down to "you can't tell me what to do." Like a fucking 8 year old child. The discussion is pretty pointless when little kids getting sick and dying doesn't even begin to sway these people. I just wish they'd hurry up infecting each other.

I feel like for certain demographic groups, this is the first time in their entire privileged lives that they've been asked to do something altruistic / to think of others before themselves, which is what mask wearing and getting vaccinated is. It's not just about you, Pavement Princess F-150 owner. Shellac understands this, because Steve, Todd and Bob are mensches. Same goes for Einsturzende Neubaten, who keep rescheduling and canceling gigs. Garth Brooks, Foo Fighters (playing in Anchorage at a moment when there are no ICU beds left!), GnR, Lolla, Pitchfork...are all gonna have blood on their hands at the end of this. Fuck them.

When people end up at this point, wtf do you even say to them as their therapist? mio dio
