so is there a one-line html tag or something or other by which you can force an image to display at a certain size (pixels x pixels)? i've looked on the net but haven't found anything. and i don't know html for shit.

it'd sure be nice to be able to post links to giant pics but downsize the resolution so it fits on the screen better.

A quick search online and thumbing through an old textbook yeilded NOTHING.
I've always just resized photos with photoshop but I'd think something should exist in HTML for that purpose.

If you could PM me with your email address in the next hour I could resize a couple pics for you.

In the IMG tag you can use a WIDTH and a HEIGHT argument. So if you want the image to be 100x100 pixels, your tag will be:


It will stretch or squish the image to fit the new size.

The only problem with that method is that if your image's original size is really 1024 x 768, for example, it can take it a long time to load for people. Also, if you don't specify relative dimensions, it will skew it.

Best thing is to size it down with an image editor first, then optimize it's file size to be as small as possible without losing too much quality. Of course, that assumes you have an image editing program and feel like doing that.

Or just stand further back from things with your camera so you take smaller photos.

the reason i'm asking is because when i link pictures, in posts on this forum, from the internet, the images are often too big. resizing is not an option unless i were to download them and then host them on some website of my own to re-link them.

There are various image hosting sites but they'll only hold onto the photo for a little while. Another thing you could do is set up a myspace account and load your edited pictures up into your pic section. Then you could link to that.

but i just resize the images in photoshop and photobucket them,

i know most websites don't really like it when you link their photos too

I resize all my photos using The Gimp and then put them on my server to link them remotely.
