11Oh, and also not a cheap ribbon mic, but a solid middle between some of the more affordable ones mentioned, and the pricier Royers would be a used Beyer M160. It's good at a few different things.

12Not sure what your budget is, but I’m in love with my Royer R-10 for electric and acoustic guitar. I have no doubt it would be excellent in other sources.

13I'm a big fan of the stuff that Stager is making these days. US-made, well-built, sounds great.
I picked up a SR-2N and was very pleased with it for both a mono overhead kit mic and for a guitar cabinet. Can't recommend enough!

14I love my stereo pair of Fatheads. I use them every session for SOMETHING.
Just be aware that ribbons are ribbons and you don't want to hit them with too much pressure.

18See I've been mostly disappointed w/ mine. Even w/ very good pre-amps, I'm getting too much noise. Does mine have to be re-ribboned? 20Sytek. Used with cloudlifter as well.
Trying to think if I had a compressor in the chain as that would be an obvious source of noise. It's been a while, I will probably have to experiment & eliminate again. I just remember hearing a bit of noise on a quiet-ish part w/ clean electric guitar.
