I still like & respect you Patrick, and it's sad to hear that coming from you. Some people here seem upset that a vehicle I own is killing people with it's tailpipe fumes....ok, so let's hear how your car, motorcycle, Uber ride, airline flight, bus, train, ferry etc. are all squeaky clean.
The van I posted here runs clean as can be because I took the time and effort to fix some problems, tune it, etc and it has no problems passing a smog test. I think that none of you know the nuances of California's emission laws. One of them which makes such a prospect challenging: for a vehicle newer than 1975, it will most likely fail the smog 'test' if it has been modified, even if those modifications result in a much cleaner and efficient running vehicle. It can emit nothing but cancer-free unicorn farts from the tailpipe, but if you installed a non-standard carburetor, or retrofitted fuel injection, or upgraded the exhaust, or removed a useless piece if smog equipment that never did what it was designed to do in the first place, etc etc take your pick - you won't pass shit. We should all be driving Tesla's? Our current electrical grid can't even handle the ones out there now, while the renewable/green power sources continue to not deliver the capacity needed today let alone tomorrow. My power is out right now because the state keeps running out of juice and has to buy it from elsewhere.
And as far a wildfires go - they've only increased exponentially because the forests are not being cleared of years of buildup of dead trees, etc because batshit crazy people think it's a good idea to let all that fuel pile up because clearing it out might kill an owl.
I'm not getting into the whole global warming thing because nobody has definitive proof of anything. I'm all ears if someone wants to change my mind without resorting to tiresome name-calling.
I am just trying to sell a van. I guess this isn't the place for that, or maybe me anymore.
