In fact I long ago decided that some of the best stuff comes out of heading straight for a rip off and missing. That's accidental originality.
Re: "Shattered glass" moments in your band
23We realized that our riff was just a military polka version of Weezer's "Hashpipe", a song which was popular on the radio at the time. Though I guess "Hashpipe" already sounded pretty much like "Wipeout"....so we just played a couple measures of Hashpipe as an intro to the song. I don't remember the decision making that went into it, but I think we meant it as a celebration of thievery, because none of us were Weezer fans.

24I mean, if any member here wrote, "we had a song that accidentally ripped off Celine Dion, but we recorded it anyway," I'd definitely want to hear the interpretation.losthighway wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:15 pmRock and roll is a lineage of theft.twelvepoint wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 2:23 pmI think this can be true, but not necessarily mean the idea should be abandoned.Ryan Zepaltas wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:51 am I know longer trust anything that I write. 25Yeah, I don't trip on it too hard. I realize my music is for me and a few of my friends. This is our rock-n-roll!losthighway wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:15 pmRock and roll is a lineage of theft.twelvepoint wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 2:23 pmI think this can be true, but not necessarily mean the idea should be abandoned.Ryan Zepaltas wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:51 am I know longer trust anything that I write.
