A friend there told me about this place, which was in every way much more adult, or developed, or whatever. Lurked for a brief moment, but due to my loquaciousness found myself posting more and more. Joined a band with a FM and made good music with it for a long while. Toured w/friends. Helped with some fests. Ate lots of meals, drank lots of dranks, and have engaged in camaraderie with FMs worldwide.

Good place, this.
I need to include something in my origin story. The other day I recalled my very first username. I thought it was H-GM, but prior to that for a very brief moment in time it was Tar Baby.

I was out in the middle of the desert with my wolf and had no company, and my health was in a trough (not much change there), when I happened upon this place. I liked the drum threads, then got into the philosophy of the taco riff, and enjoyed listening to the monthly tribute series. Despite a spell in which I was worried the place might be doing me more harm than good, I eventually chose to stick around.

Hiya, I am Lisa aka Betty Howls. I was introduced to the forum by my husband, Chad Decent, who was a member of the old forum starting about 10 ish years ago. We went to our first PRF event in 2014, where Chad played with his other bandmates in Reverb Bomb. We have attended other events over the years up until around 2017. When life and then the pandemic got in the way of travel as we live on the northernmost shore of Lake Superior in Ontario.

I read over Chad's shoulder on some posts previous to my joining, and to be honest was a bit hesitant of making my own account, as I am not a prolific musician as the rest of you rad people are. I do play instruments, violin, drums and I am hoping to dig into the cello soon. I am also involved in our local scene to a certain extent and have been a radio host for at least 18 years, 2 when I was in University, and 16 for the last 16 years. I have the longest running feminist program, which is called Betty Howls, at our local campus and community station, along with another show, called After Hours that I try to make as like 'brave new waves' but also my own, as possible. I also sit on the local community radio board as a secretary and a director, and it has led me to see music and radio in a whole different light.

I met Conan and Lindsey at our first PRF BBQ and immediately felt like I just met a branch of the family I didn't know I had (among so many others ). It was pretty fab. The energy of the PRF was, to be honest, at times shockingly wonderful.

Conan asked me if I would be interested in joining RadioNope.com shortly thereafter, but as usual life got busy and super complicated for a while and so I didn't join Nope until about two years ago as one of the alternating hosts of the PRF Radio Hour on Saturday nights. The show only plays PRF bands, or bands that have played PRF events. Now I am the main host of this show, and I ask forum members or people from bands that have played events to guest host or curate an episode to give everyone a chance to have time to share their favourite PRF bands/songs. After a few months of doing the PRF Radio hour, I started my own show on Radio Nope called 90 Minutes of Noise, on Monday nights.

I thought it would be rad for as many prf'ers to know that we are playing your music on the radio as possible and so joined the forum as myself very recently to do just that. I post at least once a week on the PRF Radio Hour thread, and I am trying to read a few threads here and there so that I not only can possibly comment on my own, but also, so I can feel that sense of belonging that you get at a PRF event being with you all, at least until we can travel down and around to you all once again.

nice to meet you all, cheers

I realized I haven't done this properly and there are new FMs here since the new forum went live so.....

I am Johnny or John, I'm from Lincoln UK and this year marks the 30th year I've been playing guitar. I really should be better at it by now! My main instrument is Bass - 29 years doing that. I also play keyboards and drums to a moderately reasonable standard. I have been into recording since my four track days in the 90s, went to college in Merseyside to study Music Technology in '96 for a couple of years. I also have a couple of level 3 and 4 courses at Access to Music Lincoln under my belt.

What brought me here was that I really wasn't happy with the way my demos were sounding. I decided If I was to make something I could find satisfactory, I would need to completely re-learn and find a new approach to sound engineering. I always liked the sound of Steve's records (his bands and the bands he records) so I thought this would be a good place to start.

Long time lurker since 2006, Forum member since 2008, some of you will know me from being the sound engineer at the PRF UK shows we put on in 2012 and 2013. When I wasn't busy working I had a chance to meet some of our FMs there. There are a lot of FMs I haven't met in person, but have struck up a friendship through talking on various instant messaging apps. I've met some great people here, many of whom will go out of their way to help in any way they can.

My posts are often few and far between, but I have always been here lurking in some capacity or other for the last....has it really been 15 years? My google fu and my memory for things that have been discussed on the forum are second only to the mighty FM Kerble, so If you have any questions about anything at all please do not hesitate to send me a PM.

You may recognize my initials.

I started off 2022 with some personal issues that left me feeling really down and worthless.

Then I got COVID. And then I found out about two bad cases of my identity having been stolen.

About a week and a half ago, I was kinda just done with everything and had most of my internet presence deleted, including my PRF account.

Now that I’ve had a little time to sort things out, I’m finding less internet has mostly been great (bye bye Facebook!), except I almost immediately regretted deleting my PRF account.

So I opened this account. While I realize that PRF likely had zero to do with my identity having been stolen, I will be maintaining a much more anonymous presence on here.

Apologies that I lobotomized multiple threads by having my posts deleted. I will be recreating some posts over the next few days that I think had some value to the forum, like my band’s experience at EA.

And apologies and thanks to akosinski for dealing with my crazy ass.
