Re: Your favorite band in one song
11I should have named the post "favorite bandS", which is what I meant, but I'm dumb.
This would probably be my pick for them as well. I'm not sure if the entire song is about Columbia, MO - but it's 2:40 or 3:00 from Belleville (depending on which way you go), and houses the classic Liquor, Guns and Ammo store. I'm originally from that area so this song always struck a chord with me. It also doesn't hurt that I used to see them play a lot back then. Anyway, great choice!jason from volo wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 2:03 pm+1 to this one. A great Uncle Tupelo song (quiet/loud/quiet, about alcohol and small town life, though not particularly about their small town).kicker_of_elves wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 1:32 pm Hands down, no other song seems closer to what Tupe was about.

I get that. But honestly, for me anyway, this song is my go to. It's the first song of their I ever heard, and it just encapsulates them. I dug deep, too. Albums, singles, bootlegs, you name it. I know there's a width and breadth that is probably not at all represented by a seemingly simple soft/loud/soft ballad, but if I had to sell them to a noob, I'd play Whiskey Bottle.numberthirty wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:45 pmPolitely...kicker_of_elves wrote: Mon Oct 11, 2021 1:32 pm

You are selling this band way the hell short.
