that little stinkers was funny
never heard of 'fancy'
but everyone at school did except my kid--a teacher did a parody of it for the lesson plan or school spirit or whatever
my kid bemoaned a lack of familiarity with the tune

Re: YouTube personality: Rick Beato
24So I see he just did a video about Low. Would it be cynical to suggest that he could have talked about his appreciation of their music at any point in the last however-many-years he's been doing his youtube thing? I'm probably just upset and projecting here.
The guy has 3M+ subscribers, so (1) he should have absolutely no need to coattail heartbreak for clicks and, paradoxically, (2) introducing even some of those followers to Low's music is undoubtedly a very good thing to come out of such a terrible tragedy.
Very sad, very conflicted, but I'm still erring towards CRAP for Beato.

"What am I gonna do with 40 subscriptions to Vibe?"
I talk disjointed music-related guff over here. You're welcome.

25Didn't see that coming.
Just watched it, thought it showed some class on RB's part.
Dude just ate some waffles on my NC vote.
Re: YouTube personality: Rick Beato
26I've got no beef with Beato. Honestly, I've learned a lot from him even if he's covering music I hate. I have been curious about learning more theory lately, and I've picked up a lot of nuggets from his videos.
Not crap.

27I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with what he does. He conducts pretty in-depth analysis on music he likes, and interviews musicians he appreciates. The interviews are often engaging as the subjects tend to open because he sticks to music. His cadre of YT acolytes are extremely annoying, though.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
Re: YouTube personality: Rick Beato
28I got the feeling from that video that he had never heard a note of them, and I found it opportunistic. Even if that's not the case, the video itself had nothing to offer. Poor form, RB.

29I like that he gets copyright strikes and then goes off on diatribes about copyright law and fair use. I don't feel the need to watch them myself but it needs to be said.
He gives off self-help guru vibes but doesn't appear to be a force for evil.

30I would say that it's hard to form a strong opinion on a milquetoast boomer guy, who makes an effort to make sense of rock music from across the eras. It's pretty inconsequential programming with zero grit, which explains why he's popular. I'd prefer more of a Clint Eastwood on music...does this exist? Come to think of it, Clint used to be a big Jazzbo. I'd love to listen to him bitch and moan about the long-hairs music ruining his rare steak orr whatever. Musical conservatism, as it were.
