Compared to other cosplay cultures, I’d say it’s closer to Oi! than to oogles, since it has a definite historical frame of reference. It lacks the same violent tribalism, but it’s still silly. It’s also an extremely white phenomenon.
And that's a bad thing?
But living here, with the racism getting less subtle every year, it seems negligent to be on board with a community of choice that is both whiter than average, and dedicated to reliving a time that was known for segregation as much as it was for the birth of rock'n'roll.
With so much awful stuff in this world to be angry, mad, disappointed, sad..about, don't go looking for racism where there isn't any.
Sorry for my shitty English

Here’s a rockabilly talking about how there’s overt racism in the regional scene that I was talking about. Enough so that he started an antiracist rockabilly label:

I’m not saying it’s as bad as Charlottesville, but it’s there, and it’s part of my crap vote.

It's in line with The Stray Cats circa 1981. I admire Brian Setzer's guitar abilities, but the music was pretty lame.
Racist or not ^^^ sucks really bad. Grease is a fucking terrible movie. Barrrf!

You don't think shit like that exists in a lot of subcultures?
That there are no racists in punk rock or garage rock or you name the genre? But would you call punk rock crap because it's an extremely white phenomenon.
I'm not defending rockabilly btw, I don't care for it.

I've spent time dipping my toes into various sub-cultures where announcing your allegiance to the cause via your costume is a big part of any social event (BDSM, trannies, oi, goth) and man oh man, rockabilly (in the UK at least) is by far the dullest and dumbest. The music is always clown-shoes-caked-in-dogshit levels of awful, too.
