27drum shell material doesn't matter. Absolutely no one can hear the difference between birch, maple or mahogany, other things being equal. I'll give stainless steel a maybe here, but acrylic, same deal: no difference. 99% of what you hear on a drum is basic dimensions + bearing edge + head choice + tuning.
