A Strat bridge pickup with a little low end tweaking through whatever amp a person plays through will sound close enough to a Tele to be difficult to tell the difference to most ears.jason from volo wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:02 amPropeller and Bee Thousand wouldn't be the same without it.kicker_of_elves wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:00 am The Fender Telecaster is an entirely unnecessary guitar.

32Fighting in hockey is ridiculous manchild bruised-ego tantruming and nothing more.

34There's maybe like 3-5 good bands on Dischord. The rest of the catalog is a complete throwaway.

36I have to disagree.kicker_of_elves wrote: Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:09 am A Strat bridge pickup with a little low end tweaking through whatever amp a person plays through will sound close enough to a Tele to be difficult to tell the difference to most ears.
It's the bridge itself and the string through body that make a Tele what they is.
But I digress. Tip away!
DIY and die anyway.

37If Trout Mask Replica is a masterpiece, then so is taking lsd and listening to car alarms for an hour

38Not a physicist or otologist, so hard to know where to begin.
It doesn't happen in nature? What we hear is binaural. Stereo is a synthesis.
Our ears naturally pick up everything binaurally, combining them in our brains in a way that creates a "spatialized" perception.
A stereo image like you hear in headphones will never happen in a physical space.
Your ears and brain would have to be in two completely isolated spaces to achieve what happens we when hard pan in a pair of cans.
Does that make sense?
I'm surely not the only person that sees it this way.
DIY and die anyway.

39I stopped giving a shit about superhero movies over a decade ago.
I don't care much for the US version of The Office. I've seen a few episodes with some funny bits, but it's basically a romantic comedy masquerading as a water cooler sitcom. It's like a lame version of Cheers, but instead of laughter people just stare uncomfortably at each other (or the camera). And there's no beer involved.
Oh and Bill Callahan too but it took me awhile.

Agree wholeheartedly except for Jeff Buckley. That boy had a rare gift and was only beginning to develop as an artist when he exited.zircona1 wrote: Mon Dec 06, 2021 10:22 am All these celebrated singer-songwriter types like Elliott Smith, Bill Callahan, Ryan Adams, Jeff Buckley, Waxahatchee, Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail, Angel Olsen, etc, who some people think are so amazing and deep and profound but I just find BORING.

40Throw in having allergies, a stomach ache, jet let or extreme fatigue, as well as someone you can't avoid yelling at you, and that sounds like my idea of a nightmare.
A non-negligible amount of music actually sounds like this!
But while Beefheart is Not Crap, Trout Mask Replica (probably his most well known album) isn't his best.
