Don’t worry about signal quality differences between balanced and unbalanced…for a cable run of a few feet at most it will almost certainly be inconsequential.

If anyone from this thread is wondering what happened...

I recorded vocals, guitars (mic'd up amp) and bass (DI) through the Grace Design m101 (using Channel 5/6) for the below EP.

Drums were recorded by two sE voodoo ribbons in stereo. Everything through the Peavey USB Mixer.

I did experiment by running the external pre through 1/2 (so going through two pres total), and it did sound kind of fatter and had a certain oversaturated type of sound compared to running through just 5/6, which was way more sterile/dry. But all the recorded takes were done through the 5/6 channel.
