If you’re using the 5/6 input it is unbalanced so just use any standard 1/4” TS cable from the unbalanced output. For channels 1-4 use a 1/4” TRS from the balanced output.
Don’t worry about signal quality differences between balanced and unbalanced…for a cable run of a few feet at most it will almost certainly be inconsequential.
Re: Question about connecting mic Preamps to an interface
12Okay thanks... I appreciate the reply. Even though this is stuff I should know I start to question myself now and again.Adam P wrote: Sat Sep 04, 2021 8:34 pm If you’re using the 5/6 input it is unbalanced so just use any standard 1/4” TS cable from the unbalanced output. Re: Question about connecting mic Preamps to an interface
13If anyone from this thread is wondering what happened...
I recorded vocals, guitars (mic'd up amp) and bass (DI) through the Grace Design m101 (using Channel 5/6) for the below EP.
Drums were recorded by two sE voodoo ribbons in stereo. Everything through the Peavey USB Mixer.
I did experiment by running the external pre through 1/2 (so going through two pres total), and it did sound kind of fatter and had a certain oversaturated type of sound compared to running through just 5/6, which was way more sterile/dry. But all the recorded takes were done through the 5/6 channel.
