You know the type. Little records with big holes. Small labels from yesteryear. Regional hits. Old R&B, psych rock, punk, garage, northern soul, reggae whatever. I dig the Nuggets comp, there are loads of people who are academic about this stuff. I just know a few gems.
Here's one:
Re: Great 45/singles/one offs
3^ Fuck yeah! I've heard The Girl Can't Dance somewhere, some comp or something, but Hide & Go Seek is wild! All stomps and solo vocals, but it sounds so edgy and energetic. Awesome room acoustics. Great shit.

4Discovered this beauty a few months ago and have remained floored. Maybe my internetting just sucks, but I can't find any information on this group, or what year the song was recorded. Truly a mystery, or maybe I'm just dumb. At any rate this is the most haunting song I've heard in a good while. Spectral-sounding and bittersweet.

5Wow! That's a stunner. Makes time stop around it.rsmurphy wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 1:32 pm Discovered this beauty a few months ago and have remained floored. Re: Great 45/singles/one offs
7The only physical media we ever had made as a band was a 7". We still have... a lot of them.

I wish it was cheaper to make 7" records, because putting 2-4 songs out at a time is fun.

Re: Great 45/singles/one offs
8we made ours in like 2012 or something. We did have to wait extra time because Gotta Groove prioritizes 12" presses over 7". I think it took us 4 months from time of order to when we received them. I doubt it is quicker now. It would be cool if there was a plant that specialized in 7" short runs. They don't have to be 180 gram audiophile horse shit, just good enough for a 7".jason from volo wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 3:03 pmOff-topic: are turn around times equally long at pressing plants right now for 7” records as they are for 12” records?Kniferide wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 2:52 pm I wish it was cheaper to make 7" records, because putting 2-4 songs out at a time is fun.

9Gorgeous. I think that mystery will remain unsolved. Discogs only has one other single from that label.

I've been trying to recall the name of the song since the inception of this thread, but soused memories and all. I knew it was "Summers Gone" or Autumns Gone" but couldn't remember the name of the group, then I recalled that I shared it in the Now Playing thread months ago. Had to do a bit of trawling that was well worth the effort.
Music this striking should never go unheard.
