I'm working on a friend's kit to get him ready to go on tour. 40+ year-old set of Premier Resonators. I really should have shot "before" photos but I was too pressed for time. I'm only here for a few days.

Resonators have this funky sleeve on the inside of the drum so you can't get the hardware off the drum. Polishing chrome in place without etching the wrap is challenging but not impossible.

Here's the rack tom and the finished kit:

Yep! I'm intrigued by older Premier kits already and recognized that kit in about .2 seconds from a bunch of old Rockpalast clips.

Yep! I'm intrigued by older Premier kits already and recognized that kit in about .2 seconds from a bunch of old Rockpalast clips.

I remember seeing that kit in Go4 pictures and thinking the off center stripe was cool and unique but didn't put that all together til you mentioned it.

Very cool! What kind of work did you have to do with them, just the standard cleaning and whatnot?

Yeah, just getting the dust off and really cleaning the chrome. Also new heads, lubing moving parts, making sure bearing edges don't need to see a specialist, etc.

There's a zillion years of crud in the lug inserts and tape residue and all that kind of stuff. It's a lot. So, my weird hobby is finally paying off.

Pajo is here and crushing the Go4 parts. Super exciting to watch it come together. If you can get tickets to these shows, I'd say DO IT.


Hugo has this 8x14 Yamaha Recording Custom that was covered in LITERAL cobwebs. I've got it looking pretty good and he's like "Eh, I was thinking I'd sell it." I might buy it off of him if I like the sound, once it's all put back together. Photo:

Lulz. Premier must have a lot more confidence in their lugs than Tama's "look at it funny and the threaded part for the mounting screw cracks off" ones.

I'm considering wrapping a passable-but-not-professional stained keller maple bop kit to match a gold sparkle snare I have. Any tips? Is double-sided tape adequate as I'd rather not mess with glue.

(Just shells, I'm not gonna bother with kick hoops)

I keep thinking I'm going to do the same thing in faux-aged WMP to get a 14" floor tom for my Camco kit that is missing one.
