My favorite is one called Big Rock I think, made by the dudes from Rival Sons (Blueshammer-y band). But they definitely nailed the large drum Zeppelin-y thing. Most of the sounds are cool and usable as long as you like ringy and roomy drums.
That one is really solid bang for the buck.

There's also this demo. While I have the expansion in question, I'm not sure if I completely buy that it is indeed involved in this demo.

If it is?

Not the worst sound ever in context(even if it feels like there is a little polish and it's decidedly "Dude Metal...")

But they often run promotions where you can get a pack free (Alt Rock didn't exist at the time so I got the 'Post Rock' kit recorded in Sigur Ros' studio)

That said the free kits that come with it are not bad (Modern and Vintage, which do about what you think they would)
I just have the basics that came with EZ Drummer 2 and was thinking of getting an expansion how do you like the Alt-Rock and Post-Rock packs?
Alt Rock: has that Electrical Audio ambience everyone here should know! I kind of quibble about some of the kits used: the Gretsch is great and versatile, but the Ludwig Club Dates are gonna be too mellow for most rockers and the larger DW kit sounds a little flat to me. 'Pro tip': I think one of the 'tympani' sounds is the Silkworm kick drum.

Post Rock: the ambience is really cool and some of the aux percussion is neat (like a metal beam and stairs) but most of the drum sounds are kind of flubby and muffled to me.

Nice, I was actually thinking of Big Rock first, than I saw the Alt-Rock which of course grabbed my attention. Post-Rock was on sale, and thought maybe would be fun.

after all this Drum/beat programs for dummies/beginners talk I decided to check for updates for my BFD3 plug-in. turns out the brand has moved from FXpansion to InMusic. So I bought a new preset (jazz noir) which I thought sounded great.
installed the latest version of BFD3 and the new license manager. what a mess. could not run the plug-in (BFD is disabled, license file is corrupt). no way I could get the whole thing working, even when the license manager had authorized all software.
wasted a couple of hours on this and ended up downloading the oldest possible version from FXpansion. now the plug-in works, but the new expansion pack did no longer work in the old license manager and I wasn’t able to authorize it. WAHT A MESS!
I honestly don’t recommend buying BFD3!

are you talking about EZ drummer etc here? if not, what?

also, any examples of fake drummers doing this in real time (like a semi score-based jam situation)?

(i researched this a couple years ago and might get back into it soon...)
Yeah, Toontrack's software and BFD were the things I had in mind there.
Most of this knowledge comes from reading interviews with Ben Sharp/Cloudkicker, though, not personal experience. (I prefer to program the drums myself - it helps me think about real drumming and vice versa.)

I contacted the customer service. wonder if they’ll ever get back to me. found a couple of threads on the bfd-drums forum. looks like a lot of people are having the same or similar troubles.
I like BFD3 a lot but I hate spending my time with stupid software problems.
