Re: Small questions that don't fit anywhere

Ok, so I'm trying to find a toggle switch that will except balanced (XLR) in and then will let me switch between two balanced connections. It also needs to be small enough fit into a rack mount face plate thingy (rack mount plate). I have the step drill, I can do this. I just can't find the part. Mouser is not being a big help.
Ideas?

I think a DPDT is all you need. One pole +, One pole -, Ground is common. Center poles to output, outer poles to each line in.

So on my quest to find a larger cab but have it not weigh a ton....I have some thoughts/questions.

Do you think if someone were to say, build a 2xTL606 2x15 like the old Mesa Diesels you could get the weight down from ~120 lbs to 60-70 lbs by doing the following:

-Kappalite 3015s instead of EVM15Ls (~24 lbs total difference right there)
-Use lightweight Italian poplar ply instead of 3/4" void free mahogany ply

Obviously the wood would be the biggest difference there, and not sure if you could use 1/2" Italian poplar ply to get it within that 60-70 lbs.

I did MY RESEARCH yesterday and it seemed like this would get a 2xTL606 cab down to ~60 lbs, but would love another opinion by someone more experienced w/ woodworking!

I cant comment specifically, but if it were me (and I have been thinking about this recently) I might be inclined to just build 2 separate TL606s. The individual weight is certainly less in that case, plus it gives you the option to have a 1x15 cab in the instances in which you need it. Might not be for everyone, but that certainly speaks to me. Then again I never even bring a cab to play a show.

I did exactly that for exactly that reason - works out great when it's a small stage. I still don't know if handles on the long side was better than short, as they juuuuust make it through a standard doorway, but it's certainly easier for picking up from a stage.
I had an EL15B and 'L' but I had a kappalite in one of them for a moment before it went in our synth cab and the weight was heavenly. These are 3/4 birch ply.

I had a peavey 2x15" before this, and for getting in and out of car there's no way I would go back.
I fit these, a 4x12, an EV V15M 1x15, two bass heads, keyboard stand and 61 key synthesizer and assorted pedal bags into a 2010 rav 4.

yeah I kept fiddling with caster ideas and I just couldn't rectify them with the aesthetic - considering putting them on one of them or making a little platform, because with two guitar players and a synth player, I can almost never get behind the cabs .

Sonically, I don't feel like I'm wanting a 2x15. Here's one of these cabs, Pbass into rat into that AIMS head, recorded with an Sm7

Oh I love the dual TL606s, but part of me wants to have something that's 2x15s so it's only one thing to move, but weighs about as much as one of the Mesa RoadReady cabs I have currently.

I've posted about it here before, but Mesa makes a Subway 2x15 now that has neo speakers and weighs ~60 lbs. It's shorter than a Diesel style 2x15 would be, but about the same depth and width.
