Boss’s erstwhile competitor and, more often than not, imitator. They somehow managed to avoid the “plasticky” Boss sound, although I remember they were equally as derided back in the day - we all either wanted an amp with a distortion channel, or a RAT or a Big Muff.
Lately, I’ve found some good settings on the American Metal.
What say ye, PRF?

2The FX55B Supra Distortion was my very first ever pedal. DOD were cheaper than Boss and I could afford one with my shitty part time job. It was fine run through my old Peavey Bandit, but I think maybe a month or two later I went back and got a green tank Big Muff.
I remember always losing the battery covers on DOD pedals.

3The Death Metal and Grunge are pretty nice for drum machines and noisy stuff. If we’re just talking guitars, probably the 250. American Metal, not bad though.
Re: DOD Distortiondome
4Classic Fuzz is great on bass.
Re: DOD Distortiondome
5The DOD American Metal can sound decent, but seems to get the best results into an Ampeg V-series. Mine still has the battery cover. I also have the FX40B and FX30B in the closet. The noise gate is perfect for sucking all your gain.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

6I'm a decade-plus lurker, I gotta speak up for the DOD Thrashmaster, it had lotsa gain and a hot pink casing.
Re: DOD Distortiondome
7Oh man. That reminded me of the Punkifier, which is really great as a distinctive and “pleasantly crappy” sounding pedal.Rock0Spazztorius wrote: Fri Feb 18, 2022 2:48 pm I'm a decade-plus lurker, I gotta speak up for the DOD Thrashmaster, it had lotsa gain and a hot pink casing.
Re: DOD Distortiondome
8Being 13, smoking almost useless shwag at a friend's house then watching him play Pantera's "Cemetery Gates" in response to my stuff performance of Nirvana. He had a les Paul copy going into the DOD death metal through a Peavey Blaze. Palm mutes and pinch harmonics were pure Dimebag Darrell.
Years later working at a corporate attempt at competing with Guitar Center, the manager rolled out the Randall Dimebag custom amp while the boys drooled. I was last in line. After fruitlessly twisting the knobs in search of something it was not made to do I declared the amp useless and said you could save a thousand bucks and buy a DOD pedal. The other guy looked at me like I'd spit on his grandma said, "You're fucking stupid," and stormed across the sales floor

9So many good ones, but it'd be a toss up between the 250 and the American Metal for me.
