First record I ever bought with my own money, earned from a paper route. I still have it. Wasted is the one for sure. Rock Brigade is also good, don't remember the rest.

Nice to see Switch 625 getting some love here.

I'll stick up for Pyromania and Hysteria too. I did a deep dive on Hysteria 10 years ago, very interesting record. Insane sounding, yes. Cheeseball, omg yes. But very interesting nonetheless.

Those guys were masters of the pre-chorus, pick any of the famous songs, the pre-chorus is the best bit.

That band has gone through a peculiar trajectory for me. When I was a synth kid teenager everybody was like oh you like Depeche Mode right? And I was like no what's this I don't get it at all. Then at some point I started listening a whole lot, and then one day I got completely bored with them in an instant and never looked back.

Speak and Spell was the first record I liked. Can't stand it today. Some Great Reward proved most enduring. I like the sounds on that one still.

I feel you on this one. I'd like to think I'm far too mature, discerning and saavy to geek out on Dookie, but there are some real tunes on there. It's easier to appreciate objectively when you're listening to the non-hit tunes which are just as good, "Sassafrass Roots", "She" etc. Also re: overproduced sounds thread, this is around the peak of engineering the most massive sounding pop punk album before the line is crossed into synthetic crap.

Speak and Spell was a very different record, and IIRC has Vince Clarke, who went on to Yaz after that record. It's OK. Prefer Yaz probably to that DM record.
