Learning REW is essential if you're serious about your room. And it's not hard to figure out the basics of it and get it working.
Spend your money on room treatment. If you have more money than time buy the premade stuff from GIK, if you're jamming econo then learn how to DIY, it's not hard.
Sometimes with REW, and often with premade acoustic treatments, you're just throwing good money after bad.
I recently watched an acquaintance spend $600-$700 on "bass trapping"(amazon.com) for a 10'x11' with a 7' ceiling, because they had a "bass problem".
Yamaha HS8's firing down the 11' length of the room, with an open closet to the rear(doors off being used as THE BOOTH) and door recess next to that.
