It's like you guys can read my mind sometimes...
With one of these and the little red YC organ thing in a rack you are really close to the usefulness of a nord for a lot les money.
It's also the sort of thing that "Back In The Day...' Yamaha would never have got caught slipping on.

Certainly a bit of a bummer that they are taking their eye off of the ball these days.

Rack mounted stuff isn't as in fashion across the board for synth stuff. They are more likely to make little cute desktop units with rubber feet that you can never really find a good place to set them down or keep them from falling off your desk. See basically every UA IO made in the last 7 years for example.

500 Series (and to a lesser degree Eurorack) stuff is super hot right now.

Not sure you could jam one of those Yamaha circuit boards into a Euro, but it would be cool to have a "Classic Electric Piano" and a little Draw bar style in a euro rack for sure. Even if it was really good digital sampled stuff. The size/patchability would be great.

I realise this is a little late to the party given Mr Jury's previous efforts along these lines, but - 13 years ago the Bass VI was unobtainable and I decided to try to make one by hacking a shortscale Jazz Bass neck and looking for a body. Then I decided it should be a "what if" Fender had made a Mustang VI. Then I abandoned the project (several times). After collecting bits in occasional bursts I've now finished hacking the neck and attached it to a Squier Mustang Bass body so it kinda exists now! Lots more work with pickups, pickguard etc and lacquering the neck. But darned if it doesn't play beautifully even in this rough state.

Paper cutouts for the pickguard tell me I need a wider control plate a la the Mustang Bass:
