I don't think RHCP are the worst band ever, but Kiedis just zaps any sort of enjoyment I might get out of (what I think are) the competent musicians in the band. His delivery, his lyrics, and... live... his complete lack of sense of pitch are just awful. I can only imagine the amount of effort required from recording engineers to polish that turd on the studio albums.

For me, it's not that, it's just the failure to see that shouting about being "funky" or "sexy" isn't the same as being either thing. I don't know why they want to make that music. Shirt-Off Shouting Bro-Down Jamz just leave me cold.

The bolded part is the baseline requirement for popularity.

Anyway, Buck Cherry.

Thread CLOSED. All truly horrible bands owe some of the shiteness to Morison and Co.

I used to think the Foo Fighters were harmlessly bland, but one Sunday morning when packing down after a gig, the venue was playing some Foo Fighters double live album or something. And it was really bad, and as it kept playing I got more and more irritated with the awful, awful songs and the whole atmosphere of it, Dave Grohl performing some horrid little thing horribly and the roar of the stadium accompanying every shitty thing he did. It was really starting to spoil my morning. If all you ever hear is Everlong or whatever, you may not appreciate just how bad their B material can get.

And yeah, hearing about how humble and what a nice guy he is all the time. He probably is a nice guy, but he also comes across as someone with a Bono-sized ego who likes to flatter himself that he stayed humble. Is that uncharitable?

Anyway, their smiley drummer died and that's shitty. And they're not the worst band ever - but they might be the worst band in the world to still have any contemporary relevance. Also, possibly the ONLY band of their generation to still have any contemporary relevance - most of this thread reads like "bands that used to annoy me on the radio 20 years ago".
