Yes to all of this. And I’ll put Is This My World? up as my favorite H/C record. There’s an element to it that I hear that’s almost psychedelic or free jazz. It wasn’t til I saw them play a couple reunion shows that really hit me, and it pretty much melted my mind. FUs had a similar vibe sometimes but they also had the cock rock lunkhead thing as well, with mixed results.

I only saw Siege once and they were great too. This was at the Mid East some Sunday matinee in like 91, and I’m pretty sure Seth Putnam was singing. I dunno, I was young and I didn’t know AxCx (another great Boston band!?) at the time. Anyway after Siege played some punk kid grabbed a wooden chair and smashed it to bits as some kind of tension release which I could empathize with.
Brian Betzger's drumming was insane. It was like Buddy Rich playing hardcore. He seemed to drop off the map after Gang Green. I think that version of Siege was some reunion lineup with Seth Putnam on vocals.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

I'm glad I started this thread. I'd estimate a good 30-40 lesser known bands. That's hours of curious listening.
Yeah, they're playing a few shows.

I haven't listened to them in 20+ years but I really liked Geoff's other band The Secret Stars back when they were around. Saw them a bunch and loved their second Shrimper record.

Looks like SSD is gong to do a reunion show. I will definitely be there for that. It will be a huge nostalgia fest, but it would be great to see a lot of those folks again.

I think because of the amount of colleges, and the small geographic area (boston/cambridge) the show density is off the charts. Look at the WMBR webpage, look at the concert report. The amount of shows is insane. I lived in NYC and I am not sure there are as many shows in NYC per week as there are in Boston. A very different music scene from when I lived there, but still amazing.

My old band used to practice at the same house as Karate, I'd show up for our practice and have to walk through the three of them playing, it was very intimidating at first, before I got to know them. But they're all sweethearts.

And their drummer is one of my besties and was my roomie for years back at my old loft in Boston.
