I’m not sure how this would be so weird, their tastes run fairly indie-pedestrian. Though I don’t think I’ve read their reviews in the past 10 years so maybe I’m missing something.enframed wrote: Tue Mar 29, 2022 4:15 pm OK, a record store based wholly on Pitchfork reviews. Nothing under a 6, or maybe 5.
Arranged in numerical order, and alpha within that.
Think about it.

This is funnier knowing that you work in the medical field (if I recall correctly?).
I haven’t worked with their medical equipment or staff in 10 years or so. I’ve had much better experience with their industrial equipment and staff.

414I am a medical social worker, yes, however, most of my experience with Siemens equipment was when I worked in industry, usually electric motors.jfv wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 6:46 amLOLErickC wrote: Sun Apr 03, 2022 1:21 am Is Siemens ever going to give in to the inevitable and rename themselves "Jizzcorp?"

415I love the crying/laughing emoji. It can look cute or incredibly mean, depending on the context.

416Can we all collectively quit watching awards shows plz.
(after last week's BS, and learning that Louis CK and Kanye + Marylin Manson won Grammys last night)

417It's fair to assume that if FM Penningtron has chimed in, and FM Pasta hasn't, that we're fairly likely to be in agreement.penningtron wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 10:32 am Can we all collectively quit watching awards shows plz.

418I was shocked when I heard Louie won a grammy. I didn't even realize he'd released another special. Weird that it was a contender (among other reasons) because it was released in 2020.penningtron wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 10:32 am Can we all collectively quit watching awards shows plz.

When someone turns out to be a creep, everyone loves to chime in about how they never liked their stuff in the first place. Which is fine. But it's also easy. What's hard for me is I found several episodes of his show, and many of the observations in his standup to be brilliant. This causes a lot of dissonance when a related scenario comes up in life and I recall a bit he wrote about it, and then have to remember that he's a creep. I don't really know what to do with that file in my brain.
In either case I don't need him to win a grammy when there are so many other good comics out there.
Re: What are you thinking right this second?
419A lot of his bits were funny coming from a 'lovable loser with an unlucky streak', and not so much knowing he's actually a powerful bully who drove many women away from the entertainment business. Not much dissonance to me: we were fuckin' duped..losthighway wrote: Mon Apr 04, 2022 11:44 am When someone turns out to be a creep, everyone loves to chime in about how they never liked their stuff in the first place. There's a pretty good chance even a post-disgraced CK album still sold better than most comedy releases, which is really all these pointless awards shows represent.
Re: What are you thinking right this second?
420Got into it on reddit over the weekend (yeah, I know) in a thread linking to an assertion that moderating the effects of climate change would result in two trillion dollars added to the annual budget of the U.S. by the turn of the century. My take was that there isn't going to be a "United States" as we know it by 2100. Was called a "doomer" and met with incredulous, "Are you actually suggesting...?" posts, and downvoted to oblivion.
Had a conversation about it with coworkers this morning and yeah, I'm still thinking my assessment is correct. Even setting aside the, "When will we use all these nukes?" question, the widening gap between the ultra-rich and those struggling to envision a meaningful future for themselves for whom a broken ankle means utter financial destruction, and the right-vs.-left-just-waiting-for-the-right-spark powderkeg, when people in this country turn the tap handle on their kitchen sink and nothing comes out, how long will that be tolerated before chaos ensues?
