Fender Strat/Tele/Jazzmaster - 25.5" scale
Gibson - 24.75" scale
Fender Jaguar/Mustang - 24" scale

Also its very anecdotal to say that 'people swear by humbuckers'. Who are these people? I wouldnt say the same thing. Some people like the sound of humbuckers, others like different things. Some people like ketchup, others are adults.

Although both companies have made guitars at different scale lengths, typically Gibsons are 24 3/4" and Fenders are 25.5". These are often referred to as Gibson scale length and Fender scale length and the bulk of electric guitars that are manufactured use one or the other. Some people greatly prefer one over the other and some people don't care or don't even notice. If you use the same gauge strings on one of each, the Gibson will have a little less tension and will often feel easier to play. It's fairly common for players that use guitars with both scale lengths to use one gauge larger strings on their Gibsons to get the same feel on both guitars. Also, some people play forever and have no idea what scale length even means....

As for humbuckers, I don't really know what to say. They sound different than single coil pickups. It's not night and day or anything and a lot of players, myself included, are fine with either single coil or humbuckers. I used mostly single coils forever but have really come around to humbuckers in the last 6-7 years. I'm sure some people like then for the reason they were invented, to cancel hum, but I think at this point, it's more of a sound preference. There's a million adjectives that people use to describe the difference in sound between the two but it's really just better to hear them for yourself. You may strongly prefer one over the other or be totally happy with both.

This will be of limited interest to non-UK PRFers, but I'm selling my '71 Dual Showman combo conversion.

It's had a long and storied existence, with many mods (some successful, others not so much), but it works fine, and sounds great. I've included a full rundown of the features/issues on an ad on another forum, so rather than reproduce them all in full here, feel free to check it out over there (link). No way I can ship it, but could meet up somewhere within about an hour's drive of Norwich.

It's far too much amp for me in my current situation. I'm after £550 for it, which given its age and it's general condition, is a pretty good deal I think.

Feel free to PM me any questions.

Does anyone have any experience selling gear at a swap meet? I have a mountain of gear, mostly PA, and much of it is too bulky/low-dough to deal with shipping. There's one coming up fast here locally and deadline for table reservation is today.

$95 table seems like a lot but honestly more worried about losing an entire day as well as the time/trips needed to load all of it up and lump it in/out of a large convention center...and then lump it all back home because it didn't sell.

Original humbucker and everything! Could use a set-up.

More details in the Reverb listing, but hit me up! Always happy to make a deal for PRF buds (especially if I don't have to ship!)
STILL FOR SALE! PRICE DROP!

Also up for sale/trade - Electrical Guitar Company EGC 500, thin neck, acrylic body.

I love this guitar. It sounds unlike anything else I've ever played. However, shortly after getting it, I had a pretty nasty fall on a patch of ice that's fucked up my back. I'll be starting PT soon (hopefully), but this has just been sitting unplayed. I've brought it to a few practice and played one gig with it and that's it.

Hoping to get $3200 for it, but open to offers OR trades for a wood or aluminum-bodied EGC (since those tend to be lighter than the acrylics.)

Hit me up!

I've never sold at a swap meet, but I get the feeling that shoppers/swappers are looking for crazy deals so be prepared for an endless deluge of lowballing.

Never done it at a swap meet, but our local Fbook gear sale/swap group has done some in person events pre-pandemic, usually at a local club. I never sold stuff, but would go to buy stuff, and in general it seemed like the smaller mid-price things always went way quicker (pedals, small combos, synths) than old PA equipment.

Is it worth looking into whether there's some sort of non-profit or charity that you can donate stuff to and get the tax write-off?
