The great Hermann Nitsch passed away last week. One of a small handful of people whose presence and influence upon my life was truly transformative. As truculent as he was avuncular; an absolute star. Safe journey.

I reckon the best example of his drumming is on Ash Ra Tempel's "Amboss". Obviously he's best known for his solo electronic albums, but that track in particular demonstrates what a powerhouse he was behind the kit as well.

This has been devastating for a lot of the san diego music scene and just took the legs out of any growing music excitement. Heartbreaking.

I know this isn't a country music forum, but I feel that we would be remiss if we didn't at least mention Naomi Judd here. RIP
