This mix is VERY GOOD, PERHAPS THE HIP-HOPPENEST.

52Am I the only one around here both excited at the prospect of a new Black Star record and devastated about the rumblings that it will only be available on Dave Chappelle's Luminary subscription service?

53Fuck yeah, Ezale is back! This is a big win for Asian representation.
Talib's been a mess for a minute. He straight up got banned from twitter because he wouldn't stop obsessively harassing a couple women.losthighway wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 6:40 pm Am I the only one around here both excited at the prospect of a new Black Star record and devastated about the rumblings that it will only be available on Dave Chappelle's Luminary subscription service?
sparkling anti-capitalist
Re: Sell me some current Hip-Hop
54Yeah, I've seen him publicly obsessing over people who have wronged him on Facebook. Mos/Yasin seems to have gotten a little weird in the last decade as well.Ace K wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:54 pm Talib's been a mess for a minute. 55Just got around to watching this. Both the song and video are great.Ace K wrote: Thu Apr 14, 2022 6:53 pm Ramona Park Broke My Heart is good. Much better than Vince's s/t. Really doubling down on the blues elements lyrically but with a sort of cleaner west coast production style.
Hey look it's Sauce Walka over a Griselda beat

56Has Noname been mentioned? Listening to Room 25 and it's lit.

Re: Sell me some current Hip-Hop
57I didn't care until I heard madlib produced the whole thing and it was 9 tracks then i got curious and looked around. Initially, I imagined them trying to recreate the first one, which they haven't at all.losthighway wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 6:40 pm Am I the only one around here both excited at the prospect of a new Black Star record and devastated about the rumblings that it will only be available on Dave Chappelle's Luminary subscription service?
Not sure what to make of it yet. It's not boring.

59New Black Star is really good. Nothing like the first. More in common with Madvillain, Mach Hommy, Jay Electronica, Kendrick and Earl.

60Do you have a Luminary subscription?Happyman wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 12:52 am New Black Star is really good. Nothing like the first. More in common with Madvillain, Mach Hommy, Jay Electronica, Kendrick and Earl.
I listened to OG on YouTube and thought it was interesting. More spacey, sort of lo fi production. The original album was so energetic and punchy, I think it might take me some listens to get used to the new style. Mos has gotten more mumbley!
