Do you have a Luminary subscription?

I listened to OG on YouTube and thought it was interesting. More spacey, sort of lo fi production. The original album was so energetic and punchy, I think it might take me some listens to get used to the new style. Mos has gotten more mumbley!
I can pm a link if you like. I've heard Yasiin/Mos say he is a big fan of Mach Hommy and Earl (and obviously MF Doom), and you definitely hear that in terms of the production and the way he's rapping now. I think a lot of fans of the first record might not like it, but it's right up my alley.

I'm not sure why they chose to put OG on youtube. it works in the context of the whole album, but it's the last song i'd choose to create interest.

I really like Good Kid Mad City but cannot really get into anything after that. He's a talented, rapper, for sure, but he's comes across very technical. I sometimes feel like he's the Joe Satriani or Yngwie Malmsteen of rap. Would prefer some more style. If that makes sense.

He can do that thing better than basically anyone, but yeah: it hasn't been the first time in the last decade or so I've thought "hip hop is going thru its bloated prog phase.."

Billy Woods. One half of armand hammer (who I never really cared for), but Billy's record gets better with every play.
Probably my AOTY at this point. Woods has been operating at an insane level for the last like 4+ years, just can't miss. If anyone hasn't checked out the record he did with Moor Mother, it's easily my favorite thing either of them has done and maybe my favorite hip-hop album of the last decade.
