Yes, you could put one (or both) in that Music Man. The stock speakers on the HD-130 are also 8 ohm. I cannot vouch for how good they will sound, but they will work and should be able to handle the power ok. Just take a photo of how it is currently wired up and then mime that. Pay close attention to what's on the positive/negative terminals - phone photos are great for this.zircona1 wrote: I recently found these speakers from a Line 6 amp that blew, sitting in a box in my garage. They're Celestion, designed for Line 6, model # G12H-90, 8 ohms. Could I put one of those in the MusicMan amp?
Also, I've never changed speakers on a guitar amp before, is it difficult?
The actual change-out itself should be super easy assuming that everything is still stock or mostly stock and hasn't been changed out (which is a real possibility on a 40+ year old amp). All you should need is a standard #2 phillips screwdriver. And assuming they still have the spade connectors with the speaker wire, they should just wiggle off the old speakers and wiggle onto the new one - be careful and patient w/ this step as you could damage the tabs or the connectors and that can be a headache to deal w/.
You'll have 4 unused holes w/ that replacement speaker I believe. Shouldn't be a big deal, just make sure the tension is relatively even across all four screws, you don't want to bend or warp it by overtightening it.
The only other thing to be careful about is that you want to be careful driving the speaker screws back in because if the screwdriver head slips off it can go right through the speaker cone. This is less likely to happen coming from the back like you will be doing on this amp...but if you're clumsy like I am, you'll find a way.
