In that 2018 thread, there is this list of bolt-on aluminum neck makers. Some are gone entirely, and new makers have sprung up.

What's your 2022 opinions on bolt-on aluminum necks and makers such as Baguley, Hoxey, ____?

EGC's necks are wonderful, but some of these other makers have the appeal of faster turn around times.

I got some shit from the Aluminum FB group for suggesting that a couple of these builders, who are allegedly vocally further right, be held accountable.

Like, feel free to hold and express whatever views you like, but then also know that other folks get to respond and choose to or not to do business with you. Also seems fucking stupid to be in the music business and not be focused on inclusivity, given the folks who make up that community.

100% in agreement with you on this sentiment. I won't buy from companies or people who align themselves with hateful ideologies, and try to vet new/unknown sellers I'm buying from by looking at their online activity.

Feel free to name names here or via PM. There's no way I want my money going to people who are right-aligned, racist/sexist/homophobic, or otherwise throwing around regressive ideas while trying to roll back progress humanity has made over the last 100 years.

I assume you're not gonna see a lot of metal fabrication shops with FEEL THE BERN stickers on their Bridgeport mills, and accountability is a bit of a sliding scale here?

I think I know who Mr Jury is referring to here, but I'm only going on where the guy is located and his general image.

I too try and avoid discretionary purchases from folks who have gone out of their way in support of cis/white/male oppression. Of course, there are likely plenty of small businesses I support who are also guilty of many "isms", just they have the good sense to not blatantly voice them on social media.

Along similar lines, I don't mind calling out Travis Bean Designs too. Read several cases on here and a few guitar boards about people receiving defective guitars then being ghosted by the company altogether. Then it happened to a good friend/old bandmate of mine last year. My personal encounters with the dude have been pleasant, but I would never buy a guitar from him at this point.

Honestly, if you're already here and into this stuff, I'd get in line for one of them C Jury builds.

There seems to be a grotesquely large minority of hard right entrepreneurs in the guitar gear industry. I agree it's counterintuitive, rock and roll has seemed culturally left since it's inception.

There's a smart fellow on YouTube who posts fascinating videos experimenting with guitar and amp materials. After watching half his shit I realized he was wearing a "45" baseball cap and realized he's one of those.

hmmm... there's a lot to unpack in this statement but might be better for another thread..

I think on a very basic level that yeah, eccentric/iconoclast types running a business out of their garage may be more irked by things like taxes, providing health care to employees, student loan forgiveness "when no one is helping me", etc.

TBD = EGC are one and the same, aren't they? EGC was good in the past, but the last neck I bought from them left me unimpressed with how they run things. Yes, pandemic, but missing shipping dates with no updates, but also the neck I got then had a ding/scuff or two on it. Nothing visible from far away, but it's there. It's one of the reasons alternates are welcome.

TL;DR: who makes aluminum necks that won't make me sound like the Nuge?
