I went and bought a second digital mixer. A&H Qu-24. Had a couple channels get fried last year on my Qu-16 due to a badly-wired venue space but using w/ digital snake works around the problem. I saw a fantastic deal on marketplace for a church-owned unit & decided to pounce. So I now I have A.) one mixer for each stage at the BBQ and B.) one to use after that while the Qu-16 gets repaired.

I just got this from a friend. It was basically in a closet for 25 years and needs some cleanup. May have some other questions for other TB owners as well.

Obviously the body shape is weird and unique, kind of like a Kramer. Have no idea whether it came this way or not, but it looks like an original finish.

Incredible, someone may correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember a few factory Beans coming with the upper horn like that. There are also a few I have seen personally that the owner decided to do that to themselves.

As a former TB owner in the 90s, let me tell you how jealous I am :)

Enjoy it!

Have you looked up the serial number in the database at travisbeanguitars.com ?

I have definitely seen some Standards with the smaller horn, but I thought it was always done after the fact. Honestly though, who knows. Anything is possible, especially from such a small shop like that.

Congratulations!! I spent half my life trying to get my hands on a TB. It's not as bad as it used to be, but I must say I'm jealous!!

Yeah, pretty excited! A few things I noticed:

1) The neck pickup is a lot hotter than the bridge. Also I can't tell if it's the guitar or my amp, but the bridge pup cut out a couple times. I may have my shop look at that. There wasn't anything obviously loose in the control cavity.

2) the cavity itself had copper shielding and the wood around the edge was painted the same blue as the rest of the guitar. The copper was definitely applied after the paint.

3) the high E and low E slots at the brass nut are very close to the fingerboard. It still frets ok but it's right at the edge. I feel like I can deal with that, but it's definitely a little wide spacing

The copper shielding was probably not original, so the electronics were most likely removed for painting and could have been modified or something. Does it still have the Sprague orange drops and white wire with yellow stripe? Have you taken an approximate reading of each pickup resistance? If it was taken apart, it's possible they were swapped at some time.
