^ been working out well the past 15 years. The distance from other houses helps a lot, like I'm listening to Faith No More at some where around 89 dBspl right know and no one will be bothering me. Then again the board repair would be an issue, I'm not Greg Norman. Oh and I don't think Toft are around so I don't know.

I didn’t have much money then, but I could have swung it. What I couldn’t have afforded is storage for the thing! Maybe when we got the house we have now, 5 years ago, I could have finally set it up after a quarter century.

My dad was an electronics tech in the Chemistry dept at a college. When I first got into music I got some hand-me-down gear through him. Some old Altec biflex speakers, a few atlas Mic stands, but I saw an old mic on a stand in a closet and asked if I could have that too. Denied. Later found out he obliviously gave it to one of the guys who worked for their AV installer, who just turned around and sold it. It was a Telefunken tube mic. I don't remember the model, but I don't really care, any would've been awesome.

I more than made up for it in gear intercepted on its way to the scrap heap in the 15 years I worked there (nepotism is real), but missing out on that mic haunts me.

Kind of a hindsight 2020, if I had Mart McFly's DeLorean I'd have told my Y2k self to scoop up all of the Gates Sta Level and Federal Compressors you could at AV swap meets and Ebay that sold for a couple hundred bucks at the time. Probably a good time to buy Supro amps too. Pretty sure my Traynor Yba3 custom was $200 at the time.
