Does it still have the Sprague orange drops and white wire with yellow stripe? Have you taken an approximate reading of each pickup resistance? If it was taken apart, it's possible they were swapped at some time.
So the deal is the caps are orange but not labeled Sprague. The volume pots have caps on them as well (maybe for noise??), so there are 4 inside the cavity. PU wires are white with yellow stripes but the bridge PU has a 3" piece of black lamp cord wire scarfed in, which is a red flag!

The neck p/u is 11.5k or so. The bridge p/u is like 500k so that's way off. I even disconnected it, so something is definitely wrong. Although it's not totally dead! just faint and a bit fuzzy.

Not totally sure what to do here. Seems like shipping out just the PU to get fixed would be the smart option. Not averse to buying a new one either though. A bit of a bummer, but I knew it needed some attention going in and I had a nice friend discount on it.

Totally worth doing whatever it takes to get that guitar in the shape you want it to be in. You want to pick it up and be pumped, not focus on the flaws. I'm assuming you have a guitar guy or gal that you trust for repairs? Get a new brass nut cut that lets you feel comfortable on the fretboard. That pickup...the fact that you're getting a measurement an not an open line or no resistance is probably a good thing (although a short to ground would have been easiest). I'd take the whole guitar in to your trusted repair person, let them know what's up, and see what they have to say. It might be as simple as a rewiring mistake somewhere in the past. Even if it does need a rewind, having the original bobbin and slugs and cover and everything is great for keeping it as original as possible and also keeping the price down. It's not epoxy potted, right? I'm pretty sure I've seen rewound TB humbuckers.

And the 4 orange caps are the correct amount for your guitar. No monkey business there.

Thanks for all the advice. I have some luthiers here (greater Boston) who are really good and I think I'll have a local person cut a new nut and do a fret dress. Obviously the pickup thing is the big issue, and I reached out to Electrical, who can get me a replacement and possibly do a repair. I definitely want to get the original fixed but if it's a 12 month wait, I may get a new one to use til the original is fixed. I did pull out that pup (which convinced me the issue is not in the wiring) and it looks like there's clear silicone holding the cover on, but maybe it's wax? It's soft and definitely not epoxy. I didn't want to mess with it any more than that.

I'll keep y'all posted on what EGC comes back with. They replied to my email quickly, which was nice! Both Lollar and Novak said they were too swamped now to do a rewind. Creamer is a rewind option too.

You could send a message to Rusty at Rockhaus in Milwaukee. He used to wind the EGC pickups many years ago before Kevin was able to do it in house and he's got experience with TBs. He's also a great guy. Worth asking. But definitely have your person check it out first in case it's something simple, possibly related to that lamp cord rewire.

Again, super thanks to FM penningtron for bringing these drums to my attention in the Traynor Alert thread.

Just beautiful drums, and sound incredible even in my not super great sounding basement. I feel like I need to put a tie on to sit at the kit. Maybe the best snare I have ever got to use myself. They just have a really pleasing musical sound to them. He loaded me up with extra heads, 4 nice cymbal stands, a ludwig hi-hat stand, Gibraltar bass pedal, a PDP double bass drum pedal, and a basic throne. He put the Slingerland bass drum head on the front, but I have the original Chicago Drum head as well as another black Slingerland head.
