Re: *Drummer*: Lars Ulrich
32He's crap but that's why I like him. Metallica doesn't sound quite right with a "good" drummer, as awesome as that one performance with Dave Lombardo was. Kirk Hammett, by his own admission, isn't all that great, either, but Metallica would sound wrong if Dave stayed in the band or if John Petrucci or someone took over.
Anyway, fuck this shit, I'm going to go listen to Ride The Lightning right fucking now.
Hahahahahaha. Speak of the devil - I love that clip. Partly because Dave is awesome, partly because you can hear the band going out of sync in places because they're so used to compensating for Lars being off and Dave isn't having any of that shit.Happyman wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 8:29 am Hearing them with a proper drummer is weird. Like they're not a band that sound like a band, they are Metallica that have the drummer Lars.
He got a lot worse with age.
I'm not even sure Lombardo practiced with them before this.

33Robert Trujillo seems to be the only one truly enjoying playing with Lombardo. The other two seem dazed.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

35Always a good idea. My favorite guitar tone ever, that amp sounds like it's about to explode.ErickC wrote: Sat Jul 23, 2022 4:14 pm Anyway, fuck this shit, I'm going to go listen to Ride The Lightning right fucking now.
Re: *Drummer*: Lars Ulrich
36Since I saw a video once about Metallica's tour gear, I know they have a warm-up room set up backstage where they can play a few songs before they go on, so they would have had a quick run through in the warm-up room I guess.Happyman wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 8:29 am I'm not even sure Lombardo practiced with them before this.
If you're a touring arena rock band, having a backstage rehearsal space seems like not a bad idea. Especially if Lars is in the band.

37We are being surveilled. This showed up on youtube when I went there. I don't know who this woman is and have never searched for Metallica or Lars Ulrich. Also I'm not a Pinkerton.

39Both YT and IG have goofy algorithms on a good day. Or maybe just creepy, I wouldn't rule it out *shrug*
