Inspired by FM losthighway's Heavy Classic Rock thread. I stumbled across this early 70's multiracial hard rock act from GA while while checking out alternate bands submitted from other members. I'd include them myself, but they sound too indebted to funk to remain solely a hard rock act. Spirited riffing, killer rhythm section, and a phenomenal female vocalist which I'd presume is a bit rare for that era. They remain to be kicking it, but their most recent output is decidedly not for me. Still, they get a solid NC for those first three records.

Mothers finest actually did a straight up hard rock/metal album with the barest minimum of funk influence in the early 80s called Iron Age. Unfortunately, it's not very good but the more funk-rocking stuff from the 70s is awesome IMO, not crap

Never listened to them until now, but I’m intrigued by this blend of 70’s riffage and funk. NC.

Joyce Kennedy is on the soundtrack to The Breakfast Club. Not recommended, but she has a really great voice. On the grittier MF tunes it's arguably comparable to Betty Davis.
