I like the "what?" replies in Chaise Longue.
I don't get the comparisons to the Fall etc.
No vote.
Re: New Band: Wet Leg
22I was initially a bit put off by all the hype they've received (in the UK at least - don't know how well-promoted they've been elsewhere), but I've been listening to their album over the last few days and it's better than I expected. Will probably be heavily rotated in indie circles over the summer as it's quite breezy. light-hearted music and several of the songs have strong hooks (including that one that cops the riff from "The Man Who Sold the World").
Don't really get the Dry Cleaning comparisons as the latter sound more grown-up and world-weary (and they have a better guitarist, no contest - even if his influences are easily traceable).
"Chaise Longue" also illustrates how ubiquitous the motorik beat has become - no doubt Klaus DInger would have deemed them rip-off artists if he were still alive to do so.

I hate music, it's got too many notes.

23I still think “Chaise Longue” is a jam, and there are a couple of songs on the album that are good (but not as good). I’d still like to see them live. Unfortunately, their next Austin performance is at ACL Fest. I’m not going to pay THAT much money to see them.

24It's fine. I don't see myself revisiting their record (or Dry Cleaning's) any time soon. I get the comparisons. It's solely the female british accent talk singing thing. Their voices sound super similar when Wet Leg is mostly talking.
Re: New Band: Wet Leg
25Songs I've heard were simple, catchy and kind of charming, I dig what the blond guitarist plays.
Re: New Band: Wet Leg
26They remind me a bit of Last Splash-era Breeders. They certainly have that spirit, plus the spirit (if not the sound) of early B-52s and the Modern Lovers.
The whole record is great. The scream near the end of “UR Mom” is perfect. Not crap.

29Eeee...this is NME level buzz extremism. At best they're this season's Nada Surf...Wood Goblin wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 9:21 am They remind me a bit of Last Splash-era Breeders. They certainly have that spirit, plus the spirit (if not the sound) of early B-52s and the Modern Lovers.

30I am going to have to get used to this band this harvest season at the winery even though they've pissed me off since they appeared. Seems one of the crew has added them to our community playlist.
