Good to know. We're about to convert our garage to living space. When that's done, I'll see if these speakers would actually make sense in the room. 202Alright, I have always been an integrated amp guy, but my Harman / Kardon 730 is dying and thinking of replacing it.
I LOVE the sound of the 730, I have older Klipsch Forte IIs and it used pretty much just to play records (a cd player is hooked up but doesn't get much use). My wife has a sonos system throughout the house for that sort of thing, so I am interested in keeping things simple.
Open to suggestions, not opposed to modern solutions but have always had 70s stereo stuff. Trying to keep it sorta budget friendly.

I have a Marantz SR4023 you can have but the remote has no battery cover but gaffing tape solves that.

I have this narrowed down to a Rega Brio and a Marantz PM6007.
Buying local and and I can get either (slightly used) for about the same price.
Again driving Klipsch Forte IIs, mainly listen to records (Project Debut with Grado Blue), and the occasional CD in my living room. Mainly listen to bombastic Rock & Metal, Soul, and Spacey Jazz
Kinda leaning towards the Marantz just seems to have more features and things (that maybe I wont use?)

Buying local and and I can get either (slightly used) for about the same price.

207Got a Marantz integrated amp (an earlier but comparable model to that one) in the mid 2010s, and have had zero issues with it since and do indeed like it. Good piece of gear.

208My budget is more on the Yamaha A-S301 end, but I've never heard a bad word about the Marantz integrated amps.
I was looking at Pioneer and Onkyo, who do still offer a few legit integrated amps with discrete output stages. Sadly, they got into a dispute with their former US partner. Their brand-new one, the questionably-named "11 Trading Company", still needs to prove they can handle support and warranty obligations.

I have not heard them both, but I would bet the Rega sounds better. Reliability - eh, who knows. I do know that Rega is very good about repairing their shit when it breaks, even outside of warranty.

210after years fighting with sometimes functioning vintage Sansui and Onkyo receiver heads I have trashed all that and have my Technics 1200 plugged into a $12 phone preamp and directly into a pair of Cheapo Fluid Audio concentric studio monitors. It sounds fine, but most of my records are hella scratched up and dusty anyway, so whatever.
