Did you get one of the "PRF Sustainers" from the charity build in 2020? Asking because I find that often when guitarist people dont like muff-type circuits its because of the scooped tone stack. Its the reason that so many people loved the old tone-bypass muffs. Anyway those PRF Sustainers were muff-type circuits but had a more standard treble roll-off type tone control.
I did but didn’t connect with it. I honestly don’t remember 100% why exactly. I sold it to another PRF person. Found it fantastic for bass for exactly that reason, between the low end and the clean blend, it’s my favorite bass muff ever. I own an WA-412. They do seem to feel a little lower mid range to me when driven hard. So far, I’ve been using it as mascis describes in the promo video - distortion and volume dimed, then fucking with the tone knob to achieve the results you’re after.
