A critique is a critical examination of something, not a chastisement. Criticism can be the former, but is exclusively the latter. I know this is common for language evolution and not much I can do about, but seeing this or that person being "critiqued" every day makes me sigh a little.

Similar with "discourse", which is worse because it is so strongly tied to certain theoretical fields - and having a more precise meaning in those - but still being used in place of "discussion", mostly I assume by people who are all familiar at least to some extent with the mentioned kinds of meaning and not by anybody who isn't. "We're having a good discourse". Ugh.
Twenty years ago, I used to die inside, just a little, when I would hear “impact” used as a verb in lieu of “affect”. Now we appear to be permanently saddled with abominations like “impactfulness,” the reality of which makes me appreciative of the fact that my time on this earth is finite.
Another good one is the confusion between the words equality and equity.
Boy I sure love this widespread lexicon shift that is taking place.
I'm learning every day that words I thought I knew the meaning of have fundamentally changed!
"Violence" is another good one.
DIY and die anyway.

While true, it's nitpicky and beside the point. The real argument they're making is that it should apply. i.e. large internet platforms as a kind of public square. Which I'm totally with, and it grinds my shit to see so many folks go "it's a private company, deal with it". Really just trying to score points. No thought about the wider situation.

Not to say that you wouldn't continue to maintain standards even in such an arrangement.

The Council of the European Union, the main governing body of the EU, was formed along with the union itself. At around the same time an entirely separate body was formed called the Council of Europe, comprised of the European states + Turkey. With the Lisbon Treaty of 2009, a new EU body was created called... the European Council.

How did they fuck this up so bad?

Wow, that’s confusing..

On the other hand, y’all have the Schengen Area, can drive from Portugal to Finland without a passport check, and can live and work in any of those countries, too.

Why this kind of arrangement doesn’t exist between the USA and Canada baffles me (though I understand, but don’t agree with, the reasons why). Instead, border control agents in both directions are borderline abusive.

Yeah I'm not complaining about the concrete arrangements. It's just that everytime I want to look up something related I have to wiki each term because I always forget which one is which.

The objective should be to have similar arrangements between all countries obviously.

I hope they get a UTI.
Also, people who ask redundant questions at the end of the meeting, because they think it makes them seem more involved. Then the regional manager has to pretend that it’s a valid question. Same song and dance, every weekly zoom meeting.

I know this well, too.

Add questions that are unique to that individual or not applicable to most of the other participants to this as well.

There’s nothing wrong in reaching out to the meeting organizer afterwards.
