Does the water filter look like one of these suckers? I've just twisted the old one out and put the new one in without turning anything off. I'm guessing if they are suggesting to turn off the water supply, it's precautionary, to mitigate if the auto shut-off valve broke or something.

i switch out the filter in our Samsung fridge all the time and I do not turn off the water. There is a check valve that keeps water from spraying out when you remove the filter. Hopefully yours is the same.

I ended up just turning off the water to the house for a minute and switching the filter out. Piece of cake.

However, the reason we changed it is b/c our ice maker was just dripping water, and not forming ice cubes. This didn't fix it. So, we might have to call someone. The ice maker is on the inside of the freezer, there's no ice/water dispenser on the outside.

do not get me started on the ice maker. That fukin thing is the bane of my existence. It jams itself up regularly so that every 3 weeks or so I have forcibly de-frost it with a big kitchen knife. Love the fridge but I am this close to ripping the ice machine out and just using old fashioned ice cube trays!

• getting thin wood strips to go around the outline of the steps.
