Lafeen's? That was my favorite (and maybe one of the only) doughnut places when I was there. Looks like it's still around:

Long John with custard filling is my go-to if we're talking about pulling one from an assorted dozen from the grocery store or something. I'm not going to get into specific types from mom & pop places. Too esoteric.

Fuck whipped-cream filling though. Nothing worse than picking up a long john and assuming it has custard in it, only to be severely disappointed by some fluffy cream bullshit. Luckily, you can usually tell by the weight. Custard has that heft to it.
