Here I confess that I’ve only dipped into the rest of the Cromwell trilogy, which means I’ve read passages and been distracted by whatever domestic diversion’s lighting up my evening. But those passages are tremendous! In a similar manner, I’ve sampled “A place of greater safety”; those passages are also tremendous!
Belated edit: her essays are magnificent, and this one is a notorious, majestic example:

464A DJ on the Bay Area jazz station this afternoon said that he thought Sanders was living in Sacramento, which seems.......not cosmic. Maybe that's in the eye of the beholder?penningtron wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:18 am Pharoah Sanders.. goddammit..

470I can't find any clips of it, but Coolio was once a contestant on the game show Pyramid, when Donny Osmond was the host. Years ago, during the summer, I happened to have the TV turned on one morning, and there he was, sitting at one of those tables. It was surreal to see him there.
RIP. 'Fantastic Voyage' and '1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)' are still solid, feel-good jams.
