My mom's favorite song, allegedly. I'll submit a NC for her and myself.

She would sing and play it on the piano in the house growing up, so there was a saccharine attachment that I had to the song for long, long time where just hearing any version of it would choke me up. Nowadays it doesn't have quite that same effect on me, but as far as schmaltzy American standards go, I'll still take it.

R.E.M.'s a capella cover = very NC

I even like 'Old Man River'.
“Old Man River” is wonderful. The whole musical Show Boat is wonderful, for that matter.
Love James Whales's adaptation of Show Boat. I once read there was a bit of a scandal with lilly-white Irene Dunne shufflin' like a common negro during "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man." It's more comical to my eyes. Can't help but to think that John Waters studied Dunne's facial expression during that shuffle and directed Mink Stole to duplicate it in Female Trouble.

Moon River is not crap. Beautiful song.

BAM! Second encore.
Thank you, I was waiting for someone to post that.

**sees marquee**
"ANDY WILLIAMS!?"
"Oh, we don't need to stop for that."
**waves fist** "YES WE DO..."
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."
