Any 'golden era' SNL I've gone back to completely sucks. I don't recall laughing at any of it until Eddie Murphy came along.

For me the peak was the early to mid '90s, especially when Norm Macdonald came along.
Same, but then I watch it from a couple years ago and I feel like the laughs per second are higher

Definitely better now than the "cool beans" type crap from 10-15 years ago, weaker points being Alec Baldwin's terrible Trump and an overuse of Kate McKinnon's dead eyed schtick (both gone now). Curious to see if they use Sarah Sherman more, she's completely bonkers..

Nice little song at the end. Some very strange diversions in this one like the rotisserie chicken bit. Like all of his shows the sum is greater than the parts. It's a pretty impressive amount of content he has put out now... hours and hours of solo spoken word material, and he's still trying to mess with expectations. Or as he once put it, "I wish I was dead like Bill Hicks."

Content Provider is another belter. "I'm starting to hate the character Stewart Lee that I created. I hate him. I hate what I'm saying right now. Self-aware meta-textural bullshit" - performed on top of a mountain of other comedians' surplus comedy DVDs.

He made a fun little radio programme last year about unreliable narrators (which his comedy persona is)

Agree with this.

Always liked Bill Murray though.

And I'd say that in the last decade Fred Armisen and Taran Kilam made me laugh from time to time.

Murphy, Mike Myers and McDonald are probably the funniest guys on that show.

Right now is super boring.
