We need to out these human rights skatrocities, but for the sake of his childern, the man only played tenor saxophone from 1996-1998. I know this from the exhaustive mustard plug timeline available on wikipedia.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
522A set of cheapo Artec (possibly effectively rebranded GFS) Filtertrons to replace the too-middy-for-me Broadtrons that were stock on my Gretsch semi. Umming and ahhing about whether to get them wired with a splittable coil for the bridge, or just to be a big boy, forego the opportunity to endlessly tinker with the sound and just play the fucking thing.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
523Saw a used Egnater Tweaker 15 at a good price, so it's on its way. Excited to see how it sounds.
I've never seen anyone on here talk about them though?

524I decided that nut was good enough that I could use it, but did some shaping to it and reglued it with a strip of plastic underneath. The fit is quite good. Action is still a bit high but now I have an excuse to get a set of nut files. If that doesn't work there's another luthier I'll try. I'm a little disappointed as this last guy is the go-to luthier for a well-respected shop near me.tallchris wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:50 pmYeah, that's what the term I've seen before! I'm not familiar w/ metal stuff enough, but I definitely remember it getting referenced about Beans/EGCs in the past.twelvepoint wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:11 pmI can't tell. The old nut, which I just examined, has small clear adhesive dots on the underside. I assumed that was just to shim up the nut a bit, but point taken with the electrolysis stuff or whatnot.tallchris wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:08 pm Is that just straight brass touching the aluminum? The original Bean nuts had a plastic piece on the bottom (or at least my TB2000 does!) as the brass can react/corrode w/ the aluminum over time.
Edit: "galvanic corrosion" apparently is the term I'm looking for?
On the plus side the electronics are good now and the Fralin rewind sounds great. Mr Fralin was himself really nice and even called me prior to doing the work just to make sure our expectations were in line.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
525You may have adjusted this already but those nut slots look wildly deep to me. Like there's too much material on the top. The strings shouldnt be fully submerged under the top of the nut.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
526Agreed, and I took a bunch of material off, then rounded the back. I could still take off more but didn't want to get too aggressive.Dr Tony Balls wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:29 am You may have adjusted this already but those nut slots look wildly deep to me. 527No one and I mean NO ONE left the 90s clean as a whistle. Not possible. Especially not musicians ffs.TylerDeadPine wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 12:07 amWe need to out these human rights skatrocities, but for the sake of his childern, the man only played tenor saxophone from 1996-1998. We're already way out on a tangent here but with MP being from Grand Rapids, they play the venue here in Kalamazoo 2x a year and they never fail to pack the place. Nice guys, never had any issues w/ them and they help locals by getting them on a gig that has good sound and pays openers decently so that's also to be commended.

528LOL I'm pretty sure most people here know of the Nonagon > Blue Meanies connection but if you didn't..Garth wrote:No one and I mean NO ONE left the 90s clean as a whistle. Not possible. *I didn't ska but played a drumset with a piccolo snare/china/splash cymbals, and was once featured on a local news story about sXe musicians*
