I met Joanna Newsom in 2003 when she was touring with Will Oldham. None of us had ever heard of her and we all stood there agog while she played. After her set she was standing by herself and I approached her and told her I really enjoyed her music. She smiled and said "Thank you! Everyone here in Flagstaff is SO NICE!" I was like "Oh dear God, I think I just fell in love with you."

Yes. File under: "AI algorithm that worked"

I never mentioned my mad, age-inappropriate crush on Carole King. I think she's still quite attractive at 80.

For years I never understood the expression calling someone a handsome woman. She's it, beautiful but strong.
I have used this word to describe women. Some women don't appreciate it, they think it implies masculinity or something.
