I think '70s solid state bass heads by Sunn, Traynor, Acoustic look cool-to-fine. Even the Peaveys of that era are admirably utilitarian despite their ugliness.

The bazillion knobs and ugly 'futuristic' logo bass amps seemed to take off in the '80s.

I was thinking about modern stuff. There were lots of cool looking bass amps back in the day. The Kasino Snake Eyes head might have been the coolest.

Lexicon PCM 91. I know one guy who can sorta make this thing do stuff that is desirable, but look at that screen. And then realize that to make this box do stuff you really want to hear you need to navigate the ridiculous amount of options using only that much space to tell you what's going on or what you've attempted to dial in. When I had a studio I had one. I also had a real vintage Fender tube spring, 2 EMT plates, a Masteroom spring, a Fender oil can delay/verb, and a couple of Ursa Major devices. I don't think I turned the Lex on more than twice and I'm sure I threw up my hands shortly after I did.

Anyone fancy buying it? It's been in storage doing nothing for 10 years now. Maybe you want it to do nothing for you too?

I had one of those, sold it for like $50 in 2004 or something. Still have the 2x15 cab.

Any cymbal with a diameter of less that 14”. You’re not in Primus, fella. Accept it.

YES to the telecoustic/stracoustic whateverthefuck and modern Orange amps that aren’t the CR120 or AD30 and modern bass amps

DW drums, for reasons I can’t adequately articulate but they feel like blues lawyer drums.

Every single PRS guitar that’s ever been made, specifically because of the headstock.

Boss Waza series pedals. Cannot fathom the point of them whatsoever.

Those fuckin Strandberg guitars. They’re disgusting.

Bass cabs are a worse offender than bass heads, ugly as the heads are. 2 feet wide, 3 feet deep, covered in fake rat fur and with a metal grille and a horn. It’s a PA cab at double price.

Even worse when you crown it with your 100-knobbed rack head or your 2 lb class D head that you carry around in a special bag. Your transparent amp and PA cab have perfect dynamic range, and you play with your fingers, so then you need a limiter to sound decent at all.

But the most physically ugly part of all this, besides the bass player’s Crocs, is the cab.
