Re: Band: King Buffalo
2Not Crap.
As part of my recent (past 12 months) journey into stoner rock, I have come across this band, and I do dig them.
Kind of clean and Toto like, meaning they go for the obvious chord changes and melodies, but the tunes are still good. Intrument tones are great, the recording is great and it still has great heaviness. The vocals are surprisingly good and not screamy at all, which I sort of like. More pcych/proggy than stoner metal at this point but still fun.
Also, they tour like Vikings, apparently.
There are other bands I like more, but I still dig KB.
Playing in Philly end of september, and I texted my usual group of soccer moms/dads and asked if anyone would be interested in seeing them. I also texted about Chat Pile and Pissed Jeans. They checked out the bands and everybody wants to go see King Buffalo and nobody is into CP and PJ. Its a miracle I was able to get one of my friends to go to Kowloon Walled City with me.....

3Never heard of these guys, I like em! Playing in LA in November, guess I'll go. Thanks!

4Will add that the artwork fits into that "so bad it's fucking awesome" category.
Re: Band: King Buffalo
6Saw 'em last night, pretty good show. Spirit Mother, from Long Beach, CA, opened and IMO was the better live act of the two. King Buffalo chose to play a bunch of tracks that all sounded the same, and I grew bored after almost an hour. I realize that many of their tracks do have a similar sound, but they should have varied the live show a bit is all.
Re: Band: King Buffalo
7yeah i saw them. they were pretty good. they are obviously a well toured and well rehearsed band. guy plays all the guitar parts with the aid of a looper pedal. they sounded tight and slick. not exactly the punk rock danger factor at play. at no point during the show did I think, "well, i have never seen THAT before"
If they played a little faster, they would be Mastodon.

8They're from Rochester, just like Rick Beato. I have seen them before and wouldn't bother again.
Re: Band: King Buffalo
9I just checked out this band, and it has a sound reminiscent of U2 sans Bono melodrama. Lots of delay units.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.
