Re: Is Cereal a Soup?
53Oh, I'm angry. Angry we're talking about 2 of my least favourite food items.
Re: Is Cereal a Soup?
54By the definition applied by many here, dips are soups.uglysound wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 7:51 amI just don't think "damp" is an appealing culinary term. I love cereal...hot, cold, overly-sweet kids stuff, high fiber colon cleansers, and most everything in between. I'm not too fussy about the milk/cereal ratio, but I do like the cereal to be a big soggy-fied by the milk. I also prefer enough milk to make cold cereal actually cold.Anthony Flack wrote: Sat Nov 05, 2022 7:22 amHow can cereal that's not awash with milk be gross? Now if you are one of those people that likes every bite crispy/crunchy, maybe you have one of those bowls that keeps the cereal and milk separate. The soup argument goes out the window as the milk is now a dip.

55Is moist the preferred term?
Likewise with the yoghurt, just enough to mix through. Still crunchy, that's the thing. Not nearly so much liquid as to have a flat surface. Does a soup need to be liquid enough to have a flat surface?

Re: Is Cereal a Soup?
57Cereal is not a soup, but a bowl of milk is. Any cereal added is just croutons
Re: Is Cereal a Soup?
59It is not a soup. The ingredients are not integrated. You wouldn't store it in the fridge and have it later. No one makes a big pot of it.
That chart is fucked. It would lump tomato soup and miso soup with grease and blood.
